Have you always felt different from others, maybe “too much” and “not enough” at the same time?
You might be feeling overwhelmed, confused and burnt out, trying to cope with grief and shame about the past and present challenges. Maybe you struggle with rejection sensitivity, feel overwhelmed by executive functioning difficulties, feel like your emotions are “too big” or are feeling ashamed by meltdowns or shutdowns. You may have been recently diagnosed with ADHD and/or Autism, or realised you may be neurodivergent and want to explore what this means to you. I was late-diagnosed with AuDHD and I understand how complicated this can all be.
It can be hard to find people who understand us, and this can be increased with communication differences between autistic and allistic (non-autistic) people. This can really affect self-esteem, especially when there’s been a build-up of negative reactions from others – from childhood bullying to family and school pressure to “be normal”. You might have struggled with friendships and relationships, with people leaving you and feeling like it’s all your fault. You may be exhausted from masking, trying so hard to fit in and hide who you really are.
Maybe you struggle with sensory overwhelm – this can affect all parts of our lives, and it can be really hard sometimes to work out why we feel bad, for example we can spend ages trying to work out why we feel anxious when it can be related to being in a loud, bright office while wearing uncomfortable clothes. If we don’t know what sensory strategies support us, it can be difficult to feel calm and grounded.
How I can support you
I can help you build more understanding and acceptance of yourself, to become more compassionate towards yourself while recognising and prioritising your needs. Together we can explore your relationships, look at sensory and executive functioning strategies, improve your self-esteem and build a life that feels true to you as a neurodivergent person.
Email counselling can be really helpful if you find it easier to communicate in writing or want more time and space to process what’s going on for you. I also offer online and phone counselling so you can have real-time sessions in your own space. You can mix and match types of sessions whenever you want.
How to get started
You can book here for a free discovery call. I understand that phone calls aren’t accessible for everyone so you can also ask any questions and discuss scheduling etc via email – contact me here and I’ll email you back. I also offer a half-price introductory session so we can talk about what’s going on for you and you can decide if I’m a good fit for you as a counsellor.
